M.A (Public Administration and Governance)

Introduction of the course

For the first time in East India, Adamas University is launching M.A. in Public Administration & Governance that not only prepares students for public services but also prepare them for UPSC, WBCS and 50 other Government Service examinations. This is offered in collaboration with Rice Education and Destination IAS. Following the NEP, Political Science Cluster has implemented Liberal Education which is a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary way to look at the subject. There is also scope to go for higher studies and research. Public Administration and Governance PG level course is exploring in Public Administration from perspective of Governance, the Programme helps with a better understanding of issues on Governance, Public Administration, and Policy making in India. It offers an opportunity to attempt IAS/IPS and other related competitive exams since it covers the prelims syllabus.

Programme Objectives:

The main objective of the course is to research, Policy making, Administration and Governance to understand the democracy and its working. A degree in Public administration and Governance helps those who want to pursue career in public administration, Government sector and Non-Government organizations. The course covers the major portion of the optional paper for UPSC and other central and state level competitive examination. It will help to undertake, organize and facilitate study courses, conferences and lectures and research in matters relating to public administration and governance, to undertake and provide for the publication of journals and of research papers and books to impart training in and promote the study of public administration and governance. Basic computer skills are taught and evaluated. Value added courses, Skill enhancement and Ability enhancement papers along with the foreign language are part of the course to give and hands on training to the students and prepare them for industry not only in India but Abroad.

 

Programme Outcomes:

PO 01: The program will prepare students to become critical and analytical thinkers who can develop effective and equitable solutions to public policy and governance challenges. The programme will help students to learn about the ideas, mechanisms and practices of public policy as well as the nature, quality and legitimacy of the institutions and practices of governance.

PO 02: Critically analyse the ideas, mechanisms, practices and outcomes that shape public policy problems, programmes and policies.

PO 03: Provide purposive programmatic solutions to undertake critical and impactful research.

PO 04: Research formulation for social issues: Research is the foundation of any social issue or social problem which helps the researcher to develop an in-depth understanding about the social issue.

PO 05: Become reflective practitioners in public affairs through careers in the Government, development organisations, social enterprises, think tanks, media and other agencies involved in public affairs.

 

Eligibility:  Minimum 50% aggregate at UG level for any recognized university in India and Abroad.
