Introduction of the course

For the first time in East India, Adamas University is launching B.A.(Hons.) in Public Administration & Governance that not only prepares students for public services but also prepare them for UPSC, WBCS and 50 other Government Service examinations. This is offered in collaboration with Rice Education and Destination IAS. Following the NEP, Political Science Cluster has implemented Liberal Education which is a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary way to look at the subject. The papers are not only keeping up with traditional core subjects but also skill-based and industry friendly to increase the employability of students. There is also scope to go for higher studies and research. Public Administration and Governance course are exploring in Political Science, the Programme helps with a better understanding of issues on Governance, Public Administration, and Policy making in India.

Programme Objectives:

A degree in Public Administration and Governance provides an academic background for those who wants to pursue a career in public administration, Government sector and non-Government organizations. The course is grounded with inputs from political science, economics, sociology and management that would equip the students with the right skills and knowledge to become a public service professional. Indian Civil Services Preliminary papers and Indian Civil Service Main papers are main highlights of the course. Basic computer skills are taught and evaluated. Value added courses, Skill enhancement and Ability enhancement papers are part of the course to give and hands on training to the students and prepare them for industry. During this four-year program, with multiple exit options, you learn core concepts of government functioning, administrative functions, national and international politics, diplomatic relations and more. The university also provides opportunities for you to be a part of our key initiatives such as Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, and National Women’s Parliament.

 

Programme Outcomes:

PO 01: familiarize the students with the classic contributions and new research perspectives in the field of public administration

PO 02: Critically analyse the ideas, mechanisms, practices and outcomes that shape public policy problems, programmes and policies.

PO 03: Critically engage various disciplinary perspectives and theoretical approaches to the study of public administration and governance.

PO 04: Critically assess various administrative systems and modes of governance in specific policy contexts.

PO 05: Become reflective practitioners in public affairs through careers in the Government, development organisations, social enterprises, think tanks, media and other agencies involved in public affairs.

 

Eligibility:
Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board.

Duration (in Year): 4 (with exit option after 3 years as per NEP guidelines).
