Introduction to the Course:

Adamas University has launched an undergraduate program on Public Administration & Governance for the first time in eastern India that not only prepares students for public services but also for UPSC, WBCS and 50 other competitive examinations in the public sector along with a Honours degree. This program is offered in collaboration with Rice Education and Destination IAS. The Department of Political Science has implemented Liberal Education in accordance with NEP, which is a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary way of looking at the discipline. Thus, the papers not only keep up with traditional core disciplines but are also skill-based and industry-friendly to enhance the employability of students. There is also scope to go for higher studies and research. In the long run,the program helps the learners with a better understanding of the dynamics of Governance, Public Administration, and Policy making in India.

Programme Objectives:

A degree in Public Administration and Governance provides an academic background for those who wants to pursue a career in public administration, Government sector and non-Government organizations. The course is grounded with inputs from political science, economics, sociology and management that would equip the students with the right skills and knowledge to become a public service professional. Indian Civil Services Preliminary papers and Indian Civil Service Main papers are main highlights of the course. Basic computer skills are taught and evaluated. Value added courses, Skill enhancement and Ability enhancement papers are part of the course to give and hands on training to the students and prepare them for industryDuring this four-year program, with multiple exit options, you learn core concepts of government functioning, administrative functions, national and international politics, diplomatic relations and more. The university also provides opportunities for you to be a part of our key initiatives such as Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, and National Women’s Parliament.

Programme Outcomes:

Eligibility:
Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board.

Duration (in Year): 4 (with exit option after 3 years as per NEP guidelines).
